There are laws that require an open meeting for your board if it is comprised of elected members, or if you are a non profit organization or other public entity. These laws are often referred to as Sunshine Laws or Open Meetings Acts and they require the board’s business be conducted in a public manner. The laws also give non-members the right to attend and, in certain instances to make comments.

When http://electronicboardportal.net/ensure-regulatory-compliance-reporting-efficiency-with-top-board-reporting-software/ the board is set to begin and begin, the person who presided at the last meeting should “call the meeting to begin”. This is usually done by saying “I call this meeting to order” or something similar in a a strong voice. This is usually followed by two taps of the givenl to indicate that the meeting has officially started.

Make sure that you have a well-organized agenda before the board meeting gets underway. The agenda should be clear and concise that outlines the main issues and the decisions that the board needs to make. Avoid putting too many items on the agenda or using an agenda from an earlier meeting.

The constant stream of new topics to discuss can consume time and distract your attendees from the items you have on your agenda. Consider putting a parking zone at the end of your meeting agenda. This is where you can add topics that aren’t considered to be high priority. You can make a promise to revisit these later or to include them in the next meeting.

Ask for feedback from your board members on how meetings have been going and what you could improve them. This will help your board members feel more involved and engaged in the outcome of the meeting.
